These two engravings show Admiral Sir Roger Curtis, a British commander during the American War of Independence and the French Revolutionary Wars. He gained a impressive reputation for his performance during the Great Siege of Gibraltar, but lost it in the aftermath of the Glorious First of June 1794, the first major British naval victory of the Revolutionary War.
